SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior Shannon Palmer (Salem, OR/Sprague HS) has been chosen First Team All-Northwest Conference for the 2011-12 season, as selected by the NWC head coaches. Willamette players Sabrina Gutierrez (So., Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park HS) and Denise Poltavski (Fr., Woodland Hills, CA/El Camino Real HS) were named Second Team All-NWC.
McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- Linfield College, which went 12-0 in the Northwest Conference during the regular season, defeated Willamette University in the semifinal round of the 2012 NWC Women's Tennis Tournament, 5-0, at the Linfield Tennis Center on Saturday, April 21.
SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's tennis team has qualified for one of four berths in the 2012 Northwest Conference Tournament, set for Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 in McMinnville, Ore. WALLA WALLA, WASH. -- Whitman College defeated Willamette University, 8-1, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Saturday, April 7 at the Whitman Outdoor Courts. Whitman, ranked #10 in the West Region of NCAA Division III, improved to 13-4 overall, 8-2 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette fell to 6-8 overall, 4-6 in the NWC. Due to illness involving two of Willamette's players, the Bearcats had to default at #5 and #6 singles as well as at #3 doubles. Willamette's lone win was at #4 singles, as Emily Funabiki (So., Pullman, WA/Pullman HS) defeated Erin Minuth of the Missionaries in a super tie-breaker played instead of a third set, 2-6, 6-2, 10-4.
SPOKANE, WASH. -- Whitworth University built a 3-0 lead in doubles and then added wins at four singles positions, including two three-set victories, as the Pirates downed Willamette University, 7-2, at the Scotford Tennis Center on Friday, April 6. Overall, four singles matches reached a third set, with each team claiming two triumphs.

Such was the case for the Willamette University women's tennis team on Wednesday, March 28, as the Bearcats' match against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor was initially delayed, and eventually canceled, due to rain in Belton, Texas.
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- Trinity University (Texas), ranked #13 in the nation and #2 in the West Region of NCAA Division III, defeated Willamette University, ranked #13 in the West Region, 9-0, behind the efforts of four regionally-ranked players. The Tigers upped their record to 9-5, while Willamette dipped to 5-6.
AUSTIN, TEXAS -- St. Edward's University, ranked #33 in the nation in NCAA Division II, defeated Willamette University from NCAA Division III, 9-0, on Monday, March 26 at the Stohmeyer Varsity Tennis Courts. The Hilltoppers improved to 9-6 on the season, while Willamette fell to 5-5.
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University defeat Bellevue College (Wash.), 6-3, in an exhibition women's tennis match on Saturday, March 17 at the Courthouse Tennis Center. Bellevue is a community college. The NCAA does not count results against two-year college opponents.
