RICHLAND, WASH. -- With every member improving her score from the first round, the Willamette University women's golf squad reduced its team score by 29 strokes, as the Bearcats shot a 329 in the second round of the 2012 Northwest Conference Championship Tournament at Columbia Point Golf Course on Sunday, April 22.

RICHLAND, WASH. -- The Willamette University women's golf team holds fifth place after the first day of the 2012 Northwest Conference Championship Tournament at Columbia Point Golf Course. The Bearcats achieved a team score of 358. Whitman College topped the field with a score of 317, but owned only a one-stroke lead over George Fox University, which shot 318.

SALEM, ORE. -- With four freshmen hoping to continue a successful season, the Willamette University women's golf team is set for strong competition at the 2012 Northwest Conference Championship Tournament at Columbia Point Golf Course in Richland, Wash., on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday April 22. The Bearcats enter the tournament tied for third place in the NWC standings.

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University golfer Nicole Smith (Fr., Portland, OR/Westview HS) registered a 76 for the lowest score in the second round, as she moved from fifth place into second place in the final standings at the Willamette Invitational on Sunday, April 15. Kelsey Morrison from George Fox University won the individual title by six strokes, as she finished at 153. Smith followed with an overall score of 159.

SALEM, ORE. -- Led by Nicole Smith (Fr., Portland, OR/Westview HS) the Willamette University women's golf team was in second place as the first round ended at the Willamette Invitational on Saturday, April 14 at Illahe Hills Country Club. Smith shot an 83 for Willamette's low round of the day, as she held fifth place heading into the second round.

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS -- Willamette University freshman golfer Mckenzie Weinhold (Placerville, CA/El Dorado HS/Univ. of Nevada-Reno) tied for second place at the West Region Invitational with a 36-hole score of 163, as the two-day event concluded on Tuesday, April 10 at the Berry Creek Country Club. The Bearcats finished in sixth place in the team standings at 726. Weinhold tied for second with Taylor O'Rear from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor after both golfers shot a 79 in the first round, followed by an 84 in the second round. When the second round started, Weinhold and O'Rear were tied for the lead, but Karissa Speck from Southwestern University made a great comeback to win the tournament. Speck shot 160 for the 36 holes. She carded an 84 on the first day and was tied for eighth entering the second round. She led all players over the final 18 holes with a score of 76, as she surged into the lead.

PENDLETON, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's golf team concluded the Northwest Conference Spring Classic in fifth place as the two-day tournament ended on Sunday, April 1 at the Wildhorse Golf course.
