Triathlon opens season at Mt Shasta
MT. SHASTA, Calif. — The Willamette University women's triathlon team kicked off its season with a strong showing at the Mt. Shasta Tinman Triathlon, with five Bearcats placing in the top 15 against a dominant Cal Poly Humboldt squad. The Bearcats were led by Sofie Szigeti, who took seventh place overall with a time of 1:10:29.
The Bearcats' depth was on display throughout the race. Kalima Glascott and Katie Clemens secured back-to-back finishes, taking 10th and 11th place, respectively. Glascott completed the course in 1:13:14, while Clemens finished just over 30 seconds later at 1:13:47. Natalie Thomas wasn't far behind, grabbing 13th place with a time of 1:14:26.
The team's success extended beyond the top finishers, with all 10 Willamette athletes completing the demanding course. Abbey Staniec, Allison Pettett, and Paulina Pioszak all placed in the top 20, finishing 15th, 16th, and 17th. Maya Ryley and Charlott Andrews added to the team's strong performance, while Sonora Sandoval, Alessand Armenta-Lopez, and Symone Bailey rounded out the Bearcats' impressive day.
