Outstanding Bearcats at Jenn Boyman Memorial
Lemesh controls the 3000m Steeple chase pace and earns first
MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — Willamette Track and Field participated in the Jenn Boyman Memorial hosted by Linfield University. With a cloudless, sunny sky and a suitable tailwind, the day saw many advancements for the Bearcats.
Beginning with throwing events, Olivia Jacobson took fifth place in Hammer Throw, while Henri Osbore secured eighth with a new personal best (PB) with a distance of 40.02 meters. In Shot Put, Osbore took sixth overall while Jacobson and Nanea Cobb-Adams stood next to each other in eleventh and twelfth for Discus.
Rema Holmes placed sixteenth overall, clearing the bar at 2.68 meters (PB). Triple Jump saw Amanda Mcarthur earn second place, followed by Ella Thompson in fifth. McArthur also participated in Long Jump, where she got thirteenth overall with a personal best of 5.15 meters. In High Jump, Erica Snyder and Whitley Stepp took second and third.
Track events opened with the 3000m Steeple for Willamette, where Anastasiia Lemesh dominated the pack and took first place. Next came the 4x100m Relay, in which the team had a small lead, and the anchor Wendy Brannon narrowly managed to edge out the competitors for first place. In the 1500m, Anna Bikle ran 4:51.77 minutes, (PB) earning fourth place.
Mashani Coleman Toliver secured second place in the 100m Hurdles in 14.74 seconds (PB), while Ellie Candell was the sole Willamette representative in the 400m, where she took 25th overall. Brannon raced again in the 100m, alongside Addie Gage, with overall placing of eighteenth and 26th, respectively. Maya Willis took eighteenth overall as well in the 800m, with a season best (SB) of 2:28.96 minutes.
Coleman Toliver earned second place yet again in the 400m Hurdles, in 64.26 seconds (PB), with Lavender Bel coming in right behind her for third at 64.72 (PB). This race saw additional personal and seasonal bests, by Juniper Ammirati and Sage Miller, who placed eighth and ninth. After a long day, Willamette track events closed with the 200m, in which the top two Bearcats were Thompson in nineteenth and Brannon in 30th.
The Bearcats compete next at John Night Twilight on April 10th, beginning at 12 pm and hosted by Western Oregon University.
