Spencer Wins at #4 Singles as Bearcats Drop Match at Whitworth 6-1
Spokane, Wash. - Sofia Spence bounced back from losing the first set to take the second set in a tie-breaker and then won the match tie-break to score the lone point in the Bearcats' 6-1 loss at Whitworth. Spencer dropped the first set to Whitworth's Audrey Judson by a score of 6-1, but rallied to take the second set 7-6, winning the set tie-break 8-6. Spence then won the match tie-break 10-4.
The Pirates swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point and then won 5 of 6 singles matches to earn the 6-1 win. The loss evened Willamette's record in the Northwest Conference at 1-1 after their win over the University of Puget Sound last weekend. The next match for the Bearcats is scheduled for Sunday, March 2nd at 11:00 am when they take on the Pacific University Boxers.
