Nationally Ranked Pioneers Down Bearcats, 9-0, in Women's Tennis

Portland, Ore. -- Lewis & Clark College, ranked #20 in the NCAA Division III national rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), defeated Willamette University, 9-0, on Saturday, March 5. Lewis and Clark improved to 7-0 on the season, 5-0 in the NWC, while Willamette fell to 0-4 overall, 0-4 in the NWC.
The Pioneers won all three doubles matches for a 3-0 lead. At #1 doubles, the Lewis & Clark team of Summer Garrison and Aurora Garrison defeated Mikaila Smith (So., Mill Valley, CA/Tamalpais HS) and Alexis Gjurasic (Fr., Olympia, WA/Capital HS) of Willamette, 8-0. Wiktoria Plawska and Kacey Incerpi took #2 doubles over Hannah Andres and Naomi Cruz-Cruz, 8-0. At #3 doubles, Natalie Kelly and Thomas Carla defeated Katie Adams (So., McLean, VA/American International School) and Allie DiPasquale (Fr., Seattle, WA/Seattle Academy), 8-2.
Lewis & Clark earned straight-set victories in all six singles matches.
In the #1 singles match, Summer Garrison rolled to a 6-0 win in the first set, and defeated Smith 6-1 in the second set. At #5 singles, Adrienne Fox of Lewis & Clark edged out Allie DiPasquale (Fr., Seattle, WA/Seattle Academy) in the first set, 6-4, and then took the second set, 6-3.
The Bearcats will play again on Sunday, March 6, when they host Pacific University in Northwest Conference action. Match time at the Courthouse Tennis Center is set for 1 p.m. (PST).
