Willamette Women's Tennis to Host George Fox in Two Matches on Saturday
SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's tennis team will play George Fox University in a pair of women's tennis matches on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the WU Tennis Courts. The first match is set to begin at 10 a.m. (PDT), with the second match scheduled for 2 p.m.

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's tennis team will play George Fox University in a pair of women's tennis matches on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the WU Tennis Courts. The first match is set to begin at 10 a.m. (PDT), with the second match scheduled for 2 p.m.
Both contests will be non-conference matches. Regular season play in the Northwest Conference is held during the spring semester.
Denise Poltavski (Sr., Woodland Hills, CA/El Camino Real HS) is the #1 singles player for the Bearcats. She also plays #1 doubles along with Mikaila Smith (Fr., Mill Valley, CA/Tamalpais HS). Poltavski, who has a 34-12 career singles record in spring competition, recently reached the Round of 16 in singles at the ITA Small College Northwest Regional.
Poltavski and Smith won their first round match in doubles at the Northwest Regional before losing to Erin Bell and Jenna Dobrin of Whitman College in the Round of 16.
Other Bearcats who competed at the Northwest Regional were Alicia Sohn (So., Tustin, CA/Arnold O. Beckman HS), Ashley Evans (Fr., Canby, OR/Canby HS), Emily Guimont (Jr., El Dorado Hills, CA/Folsom HS) and Ellen Rumley (Fr., Anchorage, AK/East Anchorage HS).
This weekend, Willamette and George Fox will play both matches using normal NCAA Division III nine-point scoring, with three doubles matches followed by six singles matches.
Denise Poltavski recently reached the Round of 16 at the ITA Small College Northwest Regional.
