Bearcats Prepare to Travel North for First NWC Road Action
SALEM, ORE. -- This weekend, the Willamette University women's tennis team will head north to take on Pacific Lutheran University and University of Puget Sound in two Northwest Conference match-ups. Start times are set for Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m. (PST) on Sunday, March 8 at 10 a.m. (PDT). The first match will be in Parkland, Wash., and the second in Tacoma, Wash.
Will Battle PLU and UPS During Two-Match Stint in Washington

In its last match, Willamette fell to Whitworth University, 8-1, making the Bearcats 0-5 on the season and 0-2 in the NWC.
Willamette earned its only win against the Pirates in #1 singles, where Denise Poltavski(Sr., Woodland Hills, CA/El Camino Real HS) won without losing a game.
The scores of the match were 6-0, 6-0, as Poltavski improved her career singles record to 36-13 during the spring.
Mikaila Smith (Fr., Mill Valley, CA/Tamalpais HS) played #2 singles against the Pirates, followed by Alicia Sohn (So., Tustin, Calif./Arnold O. Beckham HS) at #3.
Ellen Rumley (Fr., Anchorage, AK/East Anchorage HS) played #4, while Emily Guimont(Jr., El Dorado Hills, CA/Folsom HS) competed at #5, and Katie Adams(Fr., McLean, VA/American International School) finished at #6.
In doubles action, Poltavski played with Smith at #1 against Whitworth, while Sohn and Guimont competed at #2 doubles and Rumley and Adams paired up for #3.
Pacific Lutheran is currently 0-4 on the season and 0-4 in NWC play, while Puget Sound also owns an identical 0-4 overall record and has achieved a 0-4 conference record.
In its 6-3 loss to Pacific University last weekend, Pacific Lutheran had a singles lineup of Caroline Dreher (Fr.), Allison McClure (Sr.), Megan Beyers (So.), Emily Bower (So.), Emily Beemsterboer (Fr.), and Stephanie Baker (So.) playing #1 through #6, respectively.
Over her first three seasons, McClure earned a 18-15 record in singles while achieving a 14-13 doubles record.
The Lutes' doubles teams last weekend featured Dreher and Ingrid Ericksen (So.) at #1, while McClure and Beyers played #2, and Bower and Beemsterboer competed at #3.
On Sunday, when the Bearcats take on Puget Sound they will likely see Elizabeth Chao (So.), as she played #1 singles against Pacific. UPS lost to the Boxers by a score of 8-1 last weekend.
Along with Chao, Malia Ford (Sr.) played #2 singles over the weekend, followed by Farrell Ahlf (Fr.) playing #3, Tresa Bild (Fr.) at #4, Tamara Runnicles (Fr.) competing at #5, and Alison Goo (Sr.) finishing at #6.
The only member of the team to win was Ahlf as she was victorious in her match by a scores of 6-3 and 6-2.
In doubles against the Boxers, Puget Sound included Chao and Ford paired up at #1, Bild and Goo at #2, while Ahlf and Runnicles competed at #3.
Last weekend against Whitworth, Denise Poltavski recorded her 36th career win in singles competition. She is currently 2-1 this spring.
