Bearcats Sweep Singles in 8-1 Win over Bruins

BEAVERTON, ORE. -- Willamette University won all six singles matches on its way to an 8-1 victory over George Fox University on Friday, March 12 in Northwest Conference women's tennis action at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center. The win upped Willamette's record to 7-3, all against NWC opponents. GFU fell to 0-8 overall, 0-7 in the NWC.

Natalia Agarycheva (Jr., Vancouver, WA/Prairie HS/U. of Northern Colorado) led the sweep in singles by defeating Molly Beaumont at the #1 position, 6-2, 6-0. Agarycheva improved to 8-1 in singles this season.

Katie Huber (Fr., St. Peter, MN/Saint Peter HS) defeated Mollee Robinson, 6-4, 6-4, at the #2 position. Huber also paired with Jaime Slonaker (Jr., Bainbridge Island, WA/Bainbridge HS) to win at #2 doubles, 8-2, over Cara Griffith and Liliya Abildayeva. Slonaker was also a singles winner in #5 action.

Alyssa Morrison (Sr., Anacortes, WA/Anacortes HS) and Fabi Dieguez (So., Salem, OR/Sprague HS/Oregon State Univ.) won their singles matches at the #3 and #4 positions, respectively. The Bearcats dropped just one match on the day.

The women's team will compete again tomorrow, Saturday, March 13, against Linfield College. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m. (PST) at the Courthouse Tennis Club at 1379 Madison NE in Salem, Ore.
