Willamette & Corban Women's Basketball Support Toy Drive for Boys & Girls Club
By Robert McKinney, Assistant Athletics Director, Communications
SALEM, Ore. -- The women's basketball teams at Willamette University and Corban University will support the Toy Drive of the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties between now and the start of the game between the Bearcats and the Warriors on Friday, Dec. 8. The teams are asking fans to donate toys to be given to children who are members of the local Boys & Girls Club.
Each team has received a Host-a-Tree from the Boys & Girls Club. The tree at Willamette is located in the lobby of the Sparks Center. Attached to the tree are tags listing information about gifts requested by Boys & Girls Club kids.
A fan can take a tag from the tree, buy one of the gifts listed, and bring the tag and the gift back to Willamette, or bring them the night of the game. Gifts and tags should be taken to the Willamette Athletics front desk on the second floor of the Sparks Center if delivered prior to the game.
Fans don't have to get a tag from one of the Host-a-Trees in order to donate. They can just purchase a toy and deliver it to Willamette Athletics prior to Dec. 8 or bring it to the game. Each toy should be in its original wrapping or box when delivered.
Anyone donating a toy will get free admission to the game. Also, Boys & Girls Club members who attend -- and their families -- will get free admission to the game. Willamette and Corban are scheduled to play at 6 p.m. (PST) on Friday, Dec. 8. Following the women's game, the Bearcats and the Warriors will play a men's game at about 8 p.m.
