Jones Chosen NWC Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University sprinter Dylan Jones (Fr., Santa Maria, CA/Ernest Righetti HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week following his performances in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the Willamette Opener on Saturday, March 2.
Runs 100 Meters in 11.17 seconds and 200 Meters in 22.76 seconds
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University sprinter Dylan Jones (Fr., Santa Maria, CA/Ernest Righetti HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week following his performances in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the Willamette Opener on Saturday, March 2.
Jones registered a time of 11.17 seconds in the 100-meter dash. He finished in third place behind an unattached competitor and an NCAA Division I athlete. He trailed the winner, Gary Sims, by just 0.06.
In the 200-meter dash, Jones took fourth place in 22.76 seconds, as he trailed only two club team runners and an NCAA Division II athlete. Sergio Jones of Beastfitnation won the 200 in 22.40 seconds.
Both times recorded by Jones over the weekend lead the Northwest Conference this season. Willamette and all NWC members compete in NCAA Division III.
Willamette's track and field teams will participate in the Lane Preview this weekend. Lane Community College will host the two-day meet in Eugene, Ore.
Action begins with the throwing events on Friday, March 8, starting at 2 p.m. (PST). On Saturday, March 9, the other field events will start at 10:45 a.m. and the running events will begin at 11 a.m.
Dylan Jones ran the 100-meter dash in 11.17 seconds and was timed at 22.76 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
