Willamette Softball Alumni Event a Success

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University softball team held their alumni event and intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 9. A game between the current team and an alumni team kicked off the events of the day. Following the alumni game, members of the current team participated in an intrasquad Cardinal & Gold scrimmage. The event concluded with a dinner, the presentation of the All-Decade Team and recognition of the 2010 Distinguished Alum.

In the alumni game, the current Bearcats defeated the Alums 5-4. The Cardinal team defeated the Gold team, 8-3, in the intrasquad game.

The dinner ceremony included the presentation of the All-Decade Team and recognition the 2010 Distinguished Alum, Wendy Gregory '88. Gregory was a second baseman for the Bearcats and now works as a Vice President at U.S. Bank. She currently serves on the Willamette Alumni Board.

The event raised $5,000 for Willamette softball. The money will be used for improvements to facilities, such as batting cages and bullpens.

"The day was a great success for Willamette softball," said Head Coach Damian Williams.
