Gilgan, Morris and Pantley Earn NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors
SALEM, ORE. -- Three Willamette University softball players have been honored as 2008 All-America Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The Bearcat athletes are Liz Gilgan (Gr., BA '07, SS, Sherwood, OR/Sherwood HS), Jayleen Morris (So. in 2008, C, Waldport, OR/Waldport HS) and Angela Pantley (So., RHP, Kirkland, WA/International Community HS).

The Bearcat athletes are Liz Gilgan (Gr., BA '07, SS, Sherwood, OR/Sherwood HS), Jayleen Morris (So. in 2008, C, Waldport, OR/Waldport HS) and Angela Pantley (So., RHP, Kirkland, WA/International Community HS).
Players selected as NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes had to earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale during the 2007-08 academic year.
Gilgan competed as a graduate student this past spring. She received a bachelor's degree in Economics in 2007 and is working toward an MBA. Morris is majoring in Psychology and Pantley is majoring in Environmental Science with minors in Latin American History and Spanish.
Head Coach Damian Williams completed his 10th season at Willamette in 2008. He guided the Bearcats to a 25-11 overall record. Willamette took third place in the Northwest Conference with a 19-9 record.
Liz Gilgan has been selected as an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete. She hit .380 and scored a school record 46 runs.
