Men's 13th at DIII Regional
Bearcat Men's Cross Country Closes Season with 13th Place Finish at NCAA DIII West Regional
CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Willamette University men's cross country team concluded its 2025 campaign with a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Division III West Regional Championships, hosted by Pomona-Pitzer in Claremont, California. Competing in the 8-kilometer race, the Bearcats recorded a total of 336 points against a deep field of 23 scoring teams.
The host team, Pomona-Pitzer, claimed the regional title with 53 points, while Will Shuflit of Colorado College earned the individual title, finishing the course in 24:50.0.
Top Finishers Lead the Bearcat Pack
Willamette's effort was anchored by seniors Jay Chew and Thomas Bernadicou, both of whom finished in the top 35:
- Jay Chew was the team's top runner, securing a 27th-place finish with a time of 26:09.2 (26 team points).
- Thomas Bernadicou followed closely, finishing in 34th place overall, clocking a time of 26:18.9 (33 team points).
Scoring Five Secures Team Finish
Junior Adam Lewis finished as the third Bearcat scorer, running a time of 27:08.4 for 75th place overall (70 points). The final two scorers pushed Willamette's total to 336 points and its 13th-place standing.
- Austen Grabbe finished in 110th place with a time of 27:50.1 (103 points).
- Treyton Marty matched Grabbe's time, finishing right behind him in 111th place with 27:50.1 (104 points).
Rounding out the Willamette participants was Sage Soto, who finished in 143rd place overall with a time of 29:18.3.
