Willamette Cross Country Opens Season at Lewis & Clark Opener
ESTACADA, Ore. – The Willamette University men's cross country team kicked off its season on Saturday, competing against a strong field at the Lewis & Clark Opener at Milo McIver State Park. The Bearcats finished seventh in the team standings with 183 points.
Freshman Thomas Bernadicou led the way for Willamette, finishing 26th overall with a time of 16:12.86. He was followed closely by fellow freshman Treyton Marty, who placed 34th in 16:19.67.
Senior Jay Chew delivered a strong performance, setting a new personal record with a time of 16:31.16 to secure 40th place. Freshmen Austen Grabbe and Adam Lewis rounded out the Bearcats' scoring five, finishing 59th and 60th, respectively, with times of 16:49.87 and 16:49.91.
Willamette's other finishers included junior Liam Bergevin (86th, 17:16.99) and junior Sage Soto (87th, 17:17.81). Both ran personal records. Freshman Noah Lutz also competed, finishing 98th in 17:42.79.
