Snodgrass and Mucken: Top 20 Champs
Trio of Bearcats represent at NCAA DIII Championships
LA CROSSE, Wis. — A contingent of three throwers traveled to the NCAA DIII Track & Field Championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
In Hammer Throw, Roan Bashioum showed consistency throughout his season, including a personal best at the 2026 NorthWest Conference Championships of 57.45 meters. He entered as the 21st seed in the NCAA DIII Championships. Despite his recent success, however, the ring was not on the junior's side in competition and Bashioum fouled on his three attempts.
Steeley Mucken entered competition throwing an average of 56.82 meters this season in Javelin, however his mark of 64.08 meters put him as the No. 4 seed. In the championships, Mucken's first attempt of 59.89 meters—a significant improvement from his average—placed him 14th overall.
Finally, sophomore Austin Snodgrass competed in Discus. Early on in the 2026 season, Snodgrass achieved a Willamette-record-breaking personal best in this event, with a through of 51.15 meters. Throughout the season he continuously threw distances in the high 40s. Snodgrass earned 12th place out of 22 competitiors, improving upon his 19th-place seed, with a throw of 48.95 meters, continuing his far-throwing trends this season.
