Tanner Overby named NWC Student-Athlete of the Week
Overby set a new career high with 39 points vs Whitman
SALEM, Ore. — Willamette University sophomore guard Tanner Overby has been named the Northwest Conference (NWC) Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for his offensive performance during the week of Jan. 26 to Feb. 1, 2026.
Overby dominated the hardwood over a three-game stretch, averaging a staggering 34.3 points per game while shooting a highly efficient 57% from the field. His week was highlighted by two of the most impressive individual performances in the conference this season.

Career High vs. Whitman: In a tightly contested battle against Whitman College, Overby set a new career high with 39 points. He shot 13-of-21 from the floor and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line, nearly leading the Bearcats to a comeback victory. - Double-Double vs. George Fox: Overby fueled Willamette's 87-76 win over George Fox University with a massive double-double. He poured in 31 points and hauled down 12 rebounds, while nearly securing a triple-double by dishing out 7 assists.
Overby and the Bearcats will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming conference matchups as they push toward the NWC Tournament.
