Bearcats Roll Past George Fox

SALEM, Ore. — Willamette (11-7, 6-3 NWC) defeated George Fox (2-16, 1-8 NWC) 87-76 on Tuesday night at Cone Field House. The Bearcats' balanced scoring attack was highlighted by 41 points from the bench, and the team capitalized on 22 points off turnovers. George Fox managed 44 points in the paint but fell short despite a late push in the second half.
Willamette surged ahead in the first half with a strong performance, shooting 53 percent from the field compared to George Fox's 38 percent. The Bearcats' 20 rebounds, including 17 defensive boards, limited second-chance points for George Fox, who managed just five offensive rebounds. Tanner Overby played a key role with 7 assists, contributing to the team's balanced offensive display that included five 3-pointers. At the end of the half, the Bearcats led 41-32.
The Bearcats capitalized on a strong offensive performance in the second half, outpacing George Fox 46-44 to secure the win. The bench contributed significantly with 26 points, while the team converted five 3-pointers and hit 13 of 19 free throws. Defensively, they recorded six steals and four blocks, countering the 27 rebounds and 19 field goals by George Fox. At the final horn, the home side led 87-76.
Willamette improved to 11-7 overall and 6-3 in NWC play. George Fox is now 2-16 overall and 1-8 in the NWC.
