Luedtke Chosen NWC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, ORE. -- Forward Brandon Luedtke (Jr., F, Meridian, ID/Mt. View HS) of Willamette University has been selected Northwest Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts against University of La Verne on Friday, Nov. 21 and California Institute of Technology on Saturday, Nov. 22. It is Luedtke's first Student-Athlete of the Week award during his career as a Bearcat.

Luedtke recorded a double-double in both of Willamette's games. He scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds against La Verne, while also earning two assists and two steals. He keep his team in the game early on by scoring 12 points in the first half, making 6 of his 11 field goal attempts (54%). La Verne won the game, 73-63.

The next night in Willamette's come-from-behind 79-73 win against Caltech, he scored 21 points, hauled down 11 boards, achieved three assists and registered five steals.

After being down 14 points with 14:05 left to go in regulation, Luedtke helped Willamette stage an impressive comeback scoring 10 of his points in the second half. More importantly, he hit six big free throws in that half to help the Bearcats earn the victory.

For the week, he averaged 20.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.5 steals. He also blocked one shot in each game.

On the season, Luedtke is averaging 17.7 points on 51.4% shooting, while grabbing 11.0 rebounds per contest. He also leads the team in minutes played (104) and steals (7), and is tied for the team lead in blocks (3).

Willamette will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24 against cross-town rival Corban University. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center on the Corban campus.
