Manset Earns First Team All-West Region Honors from United Soccer Coaches

SALEM, Ore. -- Emmy Manset (Sr., F, Ventura, CA/Foothill Technology HS) of Willamette University has been selected First Team All-West Region for NCAA Division III women's soccer as selected by the United Soccer Coaches. Manset was named First Team All-Northwest Conference at the conclusion of the season.

Manset is the fourth Willamette women's soccer player to receive All-West Region recognition since 2008. Kelsey Rogel '09 was named Second Team All-West Region in 2008, and Lauren Miller '09 earned Third Team All-West Region honors that same year. Stephanie Skelly '12 was chosen Second Team All-West Region in 2011.

This year, 39 players received All-West Region recognition. The selections were evenly distributed with 13 each on the First Team, Second Team and Third Team.

Willamette concluded the 2017 season with a 13-4-3 record, including 10-4-2 (4th place) in the NWC. Willamette recorded nine shutouts and limited opponents to 15 goals. With Manset providing great play on offense, the Bearcats scored 34 goals on the season.

First Team All-West Region

Emmy Manset (Sr., F, Ventura, CA/Foothill Technology HS) Emmy Manset (Sr., F) led the Northwest Conference with 13 goals this fall and was named First Team All-NWC for the second year in a row. She also was credited with two assists and finished second in the conference with 28 total points. Her 13 goals were the most scored by a WU player since Skelly scored 16 goals in 2011.

During the 2017 season, Manset started all 20 games. She scored two goals four times and earned at least one goal in six of Willamette's final seven games. She registered four game-winning goals this year, and ranked first in the NWC with 83 total shots and 51 shots on goal. She was chosen NWC Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week four times. She scored the tying goal and the winning goal in a 2-1 overtime victory against University of Texas-Dallas on Sept. 10. She scored the first goal in WU's 2-1 triumph over University of Puget Sound on Nov. 4.

As a junior in 2016, she led Willamette's offense with seven goals and 14 total points. She took 39 shots and had 18 shots on goal. During her junior and senior seasons, she produced a combined total of 20 goals.

In Manset's career with the Bearcats, she played in 79 games, including 62 starts. She scored 23 career goals and earned two assists for 48 total points. She took 183 total shots and placed 100 of her shots on goal. She accumulated nine game-winning goals.
