Women's Novice 8+ from Willamette is Chosen as NWC Crew of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- The Willamette University women's novice 8+ has been selected as the Northwest Conference Crew of the Week for the week ending on March 27.

The WN8+ for the Bearcats won by a large margin at the Willamette vs. Chico State Dual Regatta on March 24 at the Forebay Aquatic Center in Oroville, California. Willamette's novice boat earned a time of 8:18.23 to win by 79.43 seconds over Chico State.

Rowing on the Willamette women's novice 8+ were stroke Natalie Branch (Fr., Cupertino, CA/Homestead HS), 7-seat Allison Davies (Fr., Oceanside, CA/Mission Vista HS), 6-seat Carli Fawcett (Fr., Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/Mission Viejo HS), 5-seat Clara Sims (Fr., Los Lunas, NM/School of Dreams Academy), 4-seat Elspeth Charno (So./Fr., Port Angeles, WA/Port Angeles HS), 3-seat Catharine Creadick (Fr., Honolulu, HI/Iolani School), 2-seat Brenda Mittelbuscher (Jr./So., Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS), and bow Annie Jolliff (Fr., Chico, CA/Chico HS). The coxswain was Laura Polkinghorn (Fr., Camino, CA/El Dorado HS).

Willamette won all four races in the dual meet with the Chico State club team. In addition to the WN8+, the Bearcats earned victories in the WV8+, WN4+ and varsity 2- (pair).

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, April 9 during the Logger Invitational at American Lake in Tacoma, Washington. University of Puget Sound will be hosting the regatta.
