SALEM, Ore. -- Relief pitcher Dawson Enright (Fr., RHP, La Mesa, CA/James Madison HS) of Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Baseball Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week for games played between Monday, March 27 and Sunday, April 2.
Enright earned a 0.90 earned run average while pitching a total of 10 inning in two appearances for the Bearcats. He registered five strikeouts during the week.
In four innings against George Fox University on March 28, Enright allowed just two hits and one run. He was a key player in Willamette's 4-3, 10-inning win over 17th-ranked Pacific Lutheran University on April 2, as he went six innings (4th-9th) without giving up a run, while allowing only two hits.
Overall, Enright gave up only four hits -- all singles. He held opposing hitters to a .138 batting average.
Enright owns a 3.27 ERA for the season with a 1-0 record. He has pitched a total of 22 innings and has recorded 16 strikeouts.
Willamette went 4-1 last week, including 4-0 in the Northwest Conference. The Bearcats advanced their record to 20-11 on the season and to 13-5 in the NWC. Willamette leads the NWC standings by percentage points over Pacific Lutheran (15-6). Linfield College (12-5) also is in the championship race.
The Bearcats will play a non-conference game against Lewis & Clark College on Wednesday, April 5 at John Lewis Field. Game time is set for 4 p.m. (PDT).
